The next Dengue Fever community information meeting will be held 6 p.m. Friday (Nov 27) at the Ocean View Community Center in Ka‘u. The Department of Health plans to conduct spraying for mosquitos at various areas of South Kona, Hilo, Puna and Ka‘u Friday (Nov 27).

Fire/rescue units responded to a 10:17 a.m. alarm for a structure fire in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Tuesday (June 16) at 92-8841 Coral Parkway. Crews arrived to find a 32’x24′ single story structure engulfed in flames. The seven occupants were able to escape without injury before firefighters arrived.

Big Island firefighters responded to a 6:07 p.m. alarm Friday (March 20) to a structure fire in Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. Crews arrived to find a 30’x60′ two-story home on fire near the intersection of Pineapple Parkway and Hukilau Drive. The house was burning on both floors on the front half facing Pineapple Parkway.

Hawaiʻi Island police have identified the man who died New Year’s Eve (December 31) in a structure fire in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision. He was identified as 67-year-old Dale Gorrell of Hawaiian Ocean View Estates. The cause of death is undetermined pending toxicology results. Police do not suspect foul play.

A Kaʻū man died New Year’s Eve (December 31) in a structure fire in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision. Responding to a 9 p.m. call, officers arrived at a home on the 92-9100 block of Lehua Lane to find firefighters at the scene. The flames had been extinguished but the house was still smoldering.
