Hawaiʻi Island police have identified the female victim of a homicide that occurred on Friday (August 14) in Hilo as 49-year-old Danielle Caron of no permanent address. Caron was identified through fingerprints but police withheld her name until next of kin could be notified.

An autopsy conducted Tuesday afternoon (August 11) on a body found Sunday (August 9) in Captain Cook has determined that the cause of death was sharp and blunt force trauma to the head and the manner of death was homicide.

The human remains found in South Kohala on Monday have been identified through dental records as 37-year-old Robert Keawe Lopaka Ryder of Kailua-Kona, who had been reported missing. Ryder’s family reported on January 17 that they had not heard from him since Thanksgiving 2013.
