Police charge two Kona suspects with murder

On June (28), Hawai`i Police charged two suspects for the murder of Dolores Borja Valle, who was killed in (August 2015). Eber Miranda-Garcia, and Marlon Miranda-Garcia, both of Hōlualoa, were charged with Murder in the second degree, and Conspiracy to Commit Murder in the second degree, bail was set at $500,000 for each of them.

Captain Cook man is charged with stealing a car and other items

Hawaiʻi Island police have charged a Captain Cook man with five offenses after a car and other items were stolen from a home in Kailua-Kona. On Sunday (September 27) a 2004 Audi sedan was stolen from a locked garage at a home on the 73-4300 block of Halemau Street. Other items were also taken.

A 56-year-old Kona man died following a three-vehicle collision Tuesday evening (April 7) in Kailua-Kona.

He has been identified as Robert Pfleger of Hōlualoa.

Responding to a 5:24 p.m. call, police determined that a 2004 Jeep Cherokee operated by 31-year-old Anna Vaverko of Kailua-Kona was traveling west on Hina Lani Street.

Two children die in Holualoa fire early Thursday (Jan 29)

Hawaiʻi Island detectives are at the scene of a fatal fire in Hōlualoa. At 1:56 a.m. Thursday (January 29), Kona Patrol officers responded to a residential fire on the 76-5200 block of Old Māmalahoa Highway. When they arrived, the one-story house was fully engulfed in flames. Fire Department personnel extinguished the fire.
