Highway 19 (Mamalahoa Highway) was closed due to an overturned fuel truck leaking fuel at Kaawalii Gulch. An 8,000 gallon tanker truck from C&F trucking flipped onto its side on Highway 19 (Mamalahoa Highway) on the Honokaa side of Kaawalii Gulch Wednesday morning (July 21). The highway is now open to traffic as of 3:45 p.m.

Traffic crash closes Highway 19; detour through Ahualoa

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE (9/27/09) Hawaii County Civil Defense reported that Highway 19 was reopened as of 5:30 p.m. MEDIA RELEASE Hawaii County Civil Defense reports Highway 19 being closed at the 44-45 mile marker as of 4:15 p.m. due to a traffic crash. Traffic is being routed through Ahualoa on the old Mamalahoa Highway.
