The National Weather Service High Surf Warning for the East facing shores of Hamakua, Hilo and Puna is NOW in effect through tomorrow. A High Surf Warning means there is a dangerous threat to life and property from the surf.

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning and Advisory for Hawaii Island today through tonight. A High Wind Warning means maximum sustained winds of up to 40 mph with higher gusts and locally damaging winds.

The National Weather Service reports a Flash Flood Warning is now in effect for Hawaii Island until 11:15 a.m. A Flash Flood Warning means dangerous flooding is occurring or imminent; and may pose a threat to life and property. Heavy thunder showers are expected to continue through today.

Strong and gusty trade winds will continue. High pressure North of the state will keep east winds strong and gusty over the summits of Maui and the Big Island. Winds have diminished below advisory levels at the lower elevations.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for leeward sections of all islands due to critical fire weather conditions. NWS has also issued a high surf advisory for north and east facing shores of the Big Island along with a high wind warning.
