Anti-Meth pledge contest sponsored by Hawaii Police Activities League

Police Chief Harry Kubojiri has again asked the Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL) program to reach out to intermediate schools islandwide to engage in a friendly competition to create a pledge against “ice” use. The winning pledge will be used and uttered by participants before the 32nd Annual Winter Basketball Classic being held December 26-29.

Basketball clinic to be held in Hilo Friday and Saturday (Nov 2-3)

The Hawaiʻi Police Activities League (HI-PAL), along with Hawaiʻi Island Hoops, will hold a clinic for agility, conditioning and skills at the Panaʻewa covered facility on Friday (November 2) from 4-6:30 p.m. and Saturday (November 3) from 9-11 a.m.

Young children squealed with delight as costume characters mingled among them during a breakfast presentation Wednesday by Community Policing officers at Hilo Union Elementary School. Children 7 to 14 years old are invited to enter the Keiki Triathlon to be held Saturday, October 20, at the Kona Community Aquatic Center and Maka‘eo Park in Kailua-Kona.

Entry forms will be accepted through Friday, October 12. The triathlon will start at 8:30 a.m. on October 20.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) held a “Click It or Ticket” 3-on-3 basketball tournament for teenage players at Papaʻaloa Gym on July 20.

Five teams competed in the boys division and five in the girls division. In all, 34 youths played basketball into the night.

Games will be held in the following age divisions: 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, high school boys, 12 & under girls, 14 & under girls, and high school girls.
