Hawaiʻi Island Police recently hosted a “Three-on-Three” Basketball Tournament in Pāhala on, (February 9), at the Pāhala Gym. Ten teams and 35 children between the ages of 5 and 12 participated in the event. The 2017 Girls Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League (volleyball league) ran from (April 10 to May 22). This was their third annual girls competition. It consisted of six teams of High School age girls across the island. There were twenty-nine at risk youth out of sixty-one participants.

Seventy-two youths participated in the HI-PAL Youth Volleyball Clinic held December 1 at the new Kaʻū District Gym in Pāhala.
