Public schools reopen Friday on Hawaii Island

As Tropical Storm Madeline moves past the State, all Hawaii Island public schools will reopen Friday (Sept 2). Schools on Hawaii Island were closed on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for the storm. The schools that were activated as shelters on Wednesday closed sheltering services at 6 a.m. today.

School closures due to Hurricane Madeline Wednesday (Aug 31)

All UH facilities on HawaiÊ»i Island will be closed Wednesday in advance of Hurricane Madeline. Hawaii public schools on Hawaii Island will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 31 and Thursday, Sept. 1. Many private schools are also closed.
