Hawaii Preparatory Academy will offer a Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) course on the HPA campus during the 2011 fall semester.  Analyzing and Writing Arguments (WRI 1100), which will run from September 6 to December 9, is open to Big Island juniors and seniors and adult community members.

Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) is hosting an admission expo for prospective K-12 and post-graduate students and their families from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 3, at the school’s Castle Gym, located on the Upper Campus. 

HPA administrators, teachers, coaches, parents, students, and alumni will be on hand to speak with prospective students and families about the school’s programs and activities and answer questions about the HPA experience.

Marc Rice, director of the Sea Turtle Research Program at Hawaii Preparatory Academy, recently assisted with the satellite tagging and release of eight three-year-old hawksbill turtles at the Underwater World Singapore.  The international project was conducted in cooperation with Underwater World Singapore, the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium in Japan, the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and Hawaii Preparatory Academy.

Hawaii Preparatory Academy’s Kulia Fund, has received a new major gift of $750,000 from a donor who wishes to remain anonymous.  HPA Headmaster Lindsay R. Barnes made the announcement.

This three-year pledge, which follows a recent $400,000 gift, brings The Kulia Fund’s total in gifts and pledges to $2.3 million.  The Kulia Fund’s goal is to raise $5 million over the initial five years.

Hawaii Preparatory Academy will offer a summer basketball day camp for rising sixth through ninth grade students June 7-11 at the school’s Castle Gym.  The camp will run from 1 to 4 p.m. There is a $65 fee for the camp, which includes a camp basketball.
