The Guiana Chestnut (Pachira Aquatica) is a large (up to 60 feet) tropical Central American tree with large 4-12 inch woody green pods that contain many seeds, 1/2 inch in diameter or larger. The seeds are edible raw and taste like peanuts, but they are normally roasted or fried in oil. The Cooked nuts have a flavor like chestnuts.  The young leaves and flowers may also be cooked as a vegetable.
