Crew hits gas line during Kilauea Ave. work

Hawaii 24/7 Staff Kilauea Avenue was temporarily closed Monday morning after a contractor accidentally struck a natural gas line near the Aupuni Street intersection. Fire/rescue crews responded to a 9:30 a.m. alarm Thursday (Sept 16) due to a strong odor of propane gas in a room at Building 'H' of Keaau High School.

Upon arrival students had already been evacuated from the two-story classroom building.
