The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Kona, Ka‘u, North and East Kohala along with interior portions of Hawaii Island through Thursday afternoon (Sept 15). This watch is also for Maui County.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flash Flood Watch for Hawaii Island on Wednesday and Thursday. Large and damaging surf is possible along east facing shores. Surf is expected to build to 10 to 18 feet on Tuesday and to 15 to 25 feet on Wednesday and Wednesday night.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has cancelled the Flash Flood Watch for Hawaii County. At 6 a.m. Hawaii County Police report Mamalahoa Highway (Route 11) at Kawa Flats is fully open to traffic.

An upper level trough over the state will create instability that will interact with the daytime heating and moisture.
