Fire crews responded to an alarm just after midnight for a structure fire in Puna Wednesday (May 19). The 20 by 20 foot structure was destroyed by fire at 11-3034 Pikake Street. Firefighters had a difficult time accessing the structure located in a heavy brush area with only a small trail leading to the scene.

Big Island police are requesting the public’s help in obtaining information about the damage and theft of traffic signs at the end of South Kulani Road near the entrances into the Hawaiian Acres and Fern Acres subdivisions. Damage and theft of signs in both subdivisions has been an ongoing problem.
