Work continues on the County of Hawai‘i’s highway intersection improvement project this weekend. One lane of Māmalahoa Highway will be closed to traffic from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 and Sunday, August 28 to allow Hawaiian Telcom to relocate overhead cables to newly placed utility poles near the intersection of Māmalahoa Highway and Nāpo‘opo‘o Road in Kona.

Mā‘ili Stream Bridge located on Kaiwiki Road is scheduled for repair work starting on Monday, July 6, 2015.  The bridge will be closed from 8:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. during all weekdays (Monday through Friday), except on holidays and weekends.

Kamehameha Avenue closed tonight for crews moving concrete barriers

Between the hours of 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight, (October 20) Kamehameha Avenue will close from Ponahawai Street to the Canoe Landing entrance so crews can move concrete barriers. The Pauahi Street/Bayfront Highway intersection will remain open, however; no turns will be allowed on to Kamehameha Avenue.

Detour through Hilo Bayfront Beach Park extends hours

The detour around the Kamehameha Avenue/Pauahi Street intersection roadwork has new hours during weekdays. The detour enters Bayfront Highway via Hilo Bayfront Beach Park (also known as Bayfront Highway canoe area). The new hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays but will be closed on holidays.

Detour through Hilo Bayfront Beach Park open to enter Bayfront Highway

Motorists traveling North to Hāmākua are using Hilo Bayfront Beach Park (also known as Bayfront Highway canoe area) to enter Bayfront Highway. The detour around the Kamehameha Avenue and Pauahi Street intersection is open weekdays (no holidays or weekends) between the hours of 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The speed limit will be 15 mph.

Bayfront Highway in Hilo to be closed weeknights (July 10-25)

Bayfront Highway will close tonight (July 10) between the hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Nighttime construction work will begin at Kamehameha Avenue and Pauahi Street intersection, weather permitting. The night work schedule is Monday-Friday to July 25. Bayfront Highway at Pauahi St. intersection will close during nighttime construction.

Traffic lights and lanes in Hilo to be modified Sunday and Monday (June 22-23)

Traffic signals and travel lanes will be modified at the Pauahi and Kamehameha intersection. Work on the traffic signals and travel lanes are Sunday and early Monday morning (June 22-23) between the hours of 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. This is to continue the makai roadway reconstruction and install drainage structures.

County installing sidewalks along Ainaloa Blvd in Puna

New sidewalks are being constructed along both sides of Ainaloa Blvd in Puna. The sidewalks will connect to Highway 130. The County of Hawaii, Department of Public Works Highway Maintenance Division is constructing these sidewalks. Bridge repair projects coming up on Hamakua Coast and Puna

Ka‘ahakini Stream Bridge on Old Māmalahoa Highway in Hakalau along the Hāmākua Coast will be closed to reinforce the support beams on April 22, weather permitting. The first wooden bridge on North Oshiro Rd in Mountain View will be repaired Tuesday, April 30 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.
