County extends vehicle registration deadline for June due to computer outages

The County of Hawai’i’s Vehicle Registration and Licensing Division announced Wednesday that it will be extending the renewal deadline for vehicle registrations and driver’s licenses from June 30 to July 7, amid an outage of the computer system used for processing.

Traffic signal work at Keaau intersection Friday (June 2)

The Department of Public Works Traffic Division will be replacing the traffic signal controller cabinet at the Highway 11 intersection with the Kea‘au-Pāhoa Rd. and the Shipman Park entrance on Friday, June 2, 2017 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., weather conditions permitting.

The County of Hawaiʻi Department of Finance has expanded services in North Hawaiʻi area with the opening of a new Vehicle Registration & Licensing office in Waimea, at the former Kamuela Deli site.

The new location in the Waimea Center, 65-1158 Mamalahoa Hwy, Ste 1-A, replaces a counter at the Waimea Police Station.

Effective July 1, 2011, the Governor signed into law Act 190, which requires State compliance certificates for all purchases of $2,500.00 or more.

All business entities and/or individuals wanting to do business with the State or any of the Counties will be required to obtain Tax Clearances (both State and Federal), Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA), and Department of Labor and Industrial Relations (DLIR) compliance certificates.

Mayor Billy Kenoi announced today that tight restrictions on hiring, overtime, purchases and other expenses have allowed the County of Hawai`i to realize a fund balance of $24.682 million at the end of the 2011 fiscal year on June 30.

That is $10.74 million more than the county expected to have on hand at the close of the fiscal year, and represents a determined effort by every department to cut costs, conserve resources, and increase the efficiency of county government, Mayor Kenoi said.

The County of Hawai`i's Rubbish Drop-off site at Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Kahuku Park will be closed for New Year’s Day on Saturday, January 1, 2011.

We respectfully ask your kokua on this holiday.  The site will be locked so please do not illegally dump or litter around the closed facility.

The site will open the day after the holiday, January 2, 2011 and will resume normal Saturday operations beginning January 8, 2011.

The office of Immigration Information of the Mayor’s Office, in collaboration with the Exchange Clubs of Hilo, is coordinating its first Citizenship Day celebration on Friday, Sept.  17, 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.,  at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale, 799 Piilani St., Hilo. 

The ceremony will honor our newest Americans who were recently naturalized by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The public is invited to attend this free event.
