The Hawai'i Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a Kailua-Kona convenience store Thursday morning (September 3). Just after 8 a.m., a man entered the ABC Store in the Coconut Grove complex on Ali'i Drive, attacked a 68-year-old female cashier with a knife and demanded that she open her cash register. The cashier was unable to open the register. The store manager, a 50-year-old Kailua-Kona man, threw another cash drawer onto the floor near the store's exit.
