National ‘Click It or Ticket’ seatbelt, child restraint awareness campaign begins

Hawaiʻi Island police are informing the public that the enforcement period for the National “Click It or Ticket” campaign starts today and runs through June 4. During this period, police will increase island wide enforcement of seat belt and child restraint laws.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department’s Traffic Services Section organized a sign-waving event on Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo on Monday (May 14) to inform motorists of the annual “Click It or Ticket” Campaign for 2012, which will run May 20 to June 4.

Sergeant Robert P. Pauole, head of the Traffic Services Section, said roving patrols and daytime and nighttime seat belt enforcement checkpoints will be set up throughout the Big Island.
