Puna woman sentenced to five years probation for growing marijuana

On November 20, 2012, Third Circuit Court Judge Glenn S. Hara rejected the request by Puna resident Shonna Soares, 36, to defer her guilty plea to one count of promoting a detrimental drug in the first degree and sentenced her to 5 years probation for that offense.

Prosecuting Attorney Charlene Y. lboshi announced today that on July 12, 2012, Third Circuit Court Judge Glenn S. Hara sentenced Hilo resident Gayleen Oda, 35, to five years probation following her guilty pleas to theft in the second degree, promoting a dangerous drug (methamphetamine) in the third degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.

State Attorney General David Louie informed Governor Neil Abercrombie this afternoon that the appointment of attorney Peter T. Cahill as Judge to the Circuit Court of the Maui Second Circuit was made two days late. 

“The appointment of a judge has to be made within 30 days of the Judicial Selection Commission forwarding the list of applicants to the Governor,” stated Attorney General Louie.
