Hawaii Island Hoops announces today it will host its first annual Senior All-Star Classic on May 8, 2011 at the Kekuaokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona.  Hawaii Island’s top seniors have been invited to participate in their final game.  Girl’s game will begin at 12:30 pm followed by the boy’s game at 2:30 pm.

Governor Linda Lingle has appointed fourteen Big Island volunteers to serve on two Councils of Neighbor Island Advisors – one for East Hawai‘i and one for West Hawai‘i.  The two seven-member councils will help the Lingle-Aiona Administration continue to identify issues of importance to the Big Island, as well as recommend ways to improve state government, encourage public discussion and participation in key initiatives, and foster innovative ideas.  The councils will also identify potential nominees to serve on state boards and commissions.  The list of members is attached.
