Fisherman falls off South Point cliff, lost in ocean Sunday (Jan 13)

A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules aircraft, an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter, a National Guard UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter along with Hawaii County fire department’s Chopper One continued the search for a missing fisherman off South Point Monday (Jan 14).

Fire/Rescue/Hazmat crews responded to a 1:16 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Sept 11) to Leilani Street in Hilo near the landfill for an overturned dump truck carrying aggregate.

Firefighters found the dump truck tipped onto the passenger side with diesel and oil spilled on the side of the roadway. The driver was able to get out of the truck without injuries.
