The Friendly Place Resource Center, located at 74-5593 Pawai Place in Kona, offers emergency housing, showers, lockers, phone usage, and other resources for people experiencing homelessness in Kona. The campus is operated by HOPE Services Hawaii. 26 Lions Club members and 2 community helpers were present.

Hawaii Red Cross volunteers are supporting the following County evacuation centers across the State in response to Hurricane Lane. As of Thursday night, there were a total of 1,526 people across 36 shelters statewide. Residents are encouraged to listen to their local County Civil Defense for further updates.

The Hawaii State Department of Health is advising the public to stay out of streams, coastal, and standing waters that are contaminated by stormwater. Stormwater may contain harmful micro-organisms from overflowing cesspools or septic tanks as well as animal waste washed into streams and storm drains.
