Police DUI stats for the week of February 4-10, 2013

During the week of February 4, 2013, through February 10, 2013, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 28 motorists for drunk driving. Three of the drivers were involved in a traffic crash. Three were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 127 DUI arrests compared with 157 during the same period last year, a decrease of 19.1 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 132 major accidents so far this year compared with 157 during the same period last year, a decrease of 15.9 percent.

So far this year, there were eight traffic fatalities on Hawaiʻi Island compared with one fatality during the same period last year, an increase of 700 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
