Hawaiʻi Island Police have charged a Kailua-Kona man in connection with a shooting incident which occurred in the Kona district on, (March 21), that left one woman seriously injured.
On Tuesday, (April 2), investigators from the Area II Criminal Investigation Division charged 41-year-old Walter Gomes III, with multiple offenses stemming from the initial incident whereby a female sustained a single gunshot wound. The offenses include:
- Assault in the First Degree
- Assault in the Second Degree
- Ownership or Possession of Firearm Prohibited
- Reckless Endangering in the First Degree
- Carry/Possessing loaded firearm on a highway
- Resisting order to stop (MD)
- Resisting order to stop (FC)
- Excessive Speeding
- Resisting Order to Stop (MD)
- Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree
- Accidents Involving Damage to Vehicle or Property
- Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree
- Reckless Endangering in the Second Degree
- Resisting Order to Stop (FC)
- Reckless Driving
- Ownership or Possession Prohibited (Firearms)
- Unauthorized Control of a Propelled Vehicle
- Promotion of a Dangerous Drug
- Probation Violation
Total Bail Amount: $313,250
Gomes remains in police custody pending his initial court appearance for the charges.
