Military training in PTA for February 4-28, 2019

Marine Corps aviation assets will be training on aerial gunnery on the following dates and times:

  • 7-11 p.m., Thursday, February 7, 2019
  • 7-11 p.m., Friday, February 8, 2019
  • 7-11 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019
  • 12 noon-4 p.m., Sunday, February 10, 2019

Weather conditions (variable winds, low cloud cover, atmospheric pressure) can play a significant role in the local community hearing or feeling the effects ongoing training. We appreciate the continued patience and understanding as our Service Members conduct their training.

MEDIA RELEASE

PŌHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawai‘i—U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force units home-based on Oahu, are scheduled to conduct numerous types of training here involving helicopter gunnery, mortar and artillery qualification and close air support by A-10 Thunderbolt aircraft beginning Feb 4 through 28 Feb. This training may be heard or observed by the surrounding communities.

“We will continue to provide this advisory to inform our Hawaii Island neighbors of upcoming training activities that are louder in nature and may be heard or noticed outside the military installation,” said Lt. Col. JR Borce, Commander of Pohakuloa Training Area.

“We truly appreciate the understanding and continued support of local communities,” he continued.

The training here is essential to ensure that military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely.
