Fire destroys abandoned home in Puna Thursday (Dec 29)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 1:11 p.m. alarm Thursday (Dec 29) for a structure fire on Nanawale Blvd in Puna.

Crews arrived to find a 1,300 square-foot home engulfed in flames. Firefighters had the fire under control by 1:35 p.m. and it was declared out at 2 p.m.

The home was reported to be abandoned and was destroyed in the blaze at an estimated loss of $130,000. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
