Crash closes Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) in Kona

Update: The Hawai’i Police Department reports that Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190) near the 31 mile post in North Kona is now open. This roadway was previously closed due to an earlier traffic accident, which later involved several agencies due to the complexity of the accident which caused additional delays. The Hawai’i Police Department thanks the public for their patience and understanding. Please drive with aloha.

The Hawai’i Police Department reports a road closure of Mamalahoa Highway (Route 190), South of the Makalei Golf Course Road, near the 31 mile marker in North Kona due to a traffic accident Thursday (Dec 1).

Motorist will be re-routed down Kaiminani Drive on Route 190 on the South side of the closure, on the North side, traffic will be re-routed towards Waimea on Route 190 and from the Daniel K. Inouye Highway. The expected time of this closure is until about 6 p.m.
