During the week of June 20, 2016, through June 26, 2016, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 18 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. One of the drivers was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 538 DUI arrests compared with 482 during the same period last year, an increase of 11.6 percent.

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have risen 0.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.78/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has fallen 2.4 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.31/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
