Scheduled power outage in Napoopoo and Keei area of Kona Thursday (June 9)

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawai‘i Electric Light announces a scheduled power outage in Napo‘opo‘o and Ke‘ei on Thursday, June 9, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The outage will affect about 140 customers from Lower Napo‘opo‘o Road to Ke‘ei Beach. Crews will remove and replace a power pole on Lower Napo‘opo‘o Road.

One lane will be closed to traffic from just south of the Napo‘opo‘o/Middle Ke‘ei Road junction. Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the construction area and expect delays of up to five minutes. An alternate route to the area is the Keala O Keawe Road to Pu‘uhonua Road.

To ensure the safety of the crews, a temporary power interruption is necessary while the work is being performed. Affected customers are advised to keep their refrigerator and freezer doors closed and unplug sensitive equipment prior to the interruption. The company also understands some customers depend on medication or life support equipment and suggests making arrangements for a back-up power supply or transportation to a facility outside the affected area.

Hawai‘i Electric Light regrets any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for their patience and understanding. For questions or concerns, please call 969-6666.
