Brushfire burns about 50 acres at PTA’s Keamuku Maneuver Area Monday (June 6)

POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawaii – The brushfire which began at noon today at Keamuku Maneuver Area at Pohakuloa Training Area is now 100 percent contained.

According to PTA’s Fire and Emergency Services, the fire burned approximately 50 acres.

Hot spots remain and will be observed overnight and managed by an on-site command post.

Throughout the day, PTA’s Fire and Emergency Services, Waimea Fire and Hawai’i County Fire Departments provided response.

An Hawai’i County helicopter and PTA’s MEDEVAC UH-60 helicopter responded with water buckets which were critical to the firefighting success.

Two D-7 bulldozers are on site and prepared to respond if necessary.

No buildings or structures have been damaged, and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time and is under investigation.

POHAKULOA TRAINING AREA, Hawaii – Firefighters are currently responding to a brushfire at Keamuku Maneuver Area.

According to Pohakuloa Training Area’s Fire and Emergency Services, the fire began at noon Monday (June 6) and has encompassed 20 acres. It is currently 40 percent contained. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

Two helicopters are providing water bucket support. In addition to PTA’s Fire and Emergency Services, other responding agencies include: Waimea Fire and Hawai’i County Fire Department.

At this time, no buildings or structures have been damaged, nor injuries reported. The cause will be under investigation.
