Hawaii Island lane closures for the week of February 13-19, 2016

Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice.
All projects are weather permitting.

There will be no lane closures on Monday, Feb. 15, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

— HAWAII BELT ROAD (ROUTE 19) —

1) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closures on Umauma Bridge in the vicinity of Hakalau (Route 19, Milepost 16) in both directions over a twenty-four hour period, seven days a week for bridge rehabilitation. Travel speed on Umauma Bridge is reduced to 20-mph, and vehicles that exceed statutory size-weight limits will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis upon application of their respective oversize-overweight vehicle permits. Maximum width for any vehicle with permit passing over the bridge is 12 feet.

2) HAKALAU (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

Alternating lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) at Milepost 15 in both directions over a twenty-four hour period, seven days a week for road reconstruction. Travel speed is reduced to 25-mph.

3) KAAWALII GULCH

Alternating single lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Jardine Road and Old Mamalahoa Highway in the vicinity of Kaawalii Gulch on Tuesday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway improvements.

4) LAUPAHOEHOE GULCH

Alternating single lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Jardine Road and Puualaea Homestead Road in the vicinity of Laupahoehoe Gulch on Tuesday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., daily, for roadway improvements.

5) PEPEEKEO TO HAKALAU

Alternating single lane closures on Hawaii Belt Road (Route 19) in both directions between Kulaimano Road and Kauniho Road in the vicinity of Pepeekeo to Hakalau on Tuesday, Feb. 16, through Friday, Feb. 19, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., daily, for roadway improvements.

— KEAAU-PAHOA ROAD —

1) PAHOA (WEEKEND/NIGHT WORK)

24-hour detour on the Keaau-Pahoa Bypass Road in both directions between Pahoa Market Place and Kahakai Boulevard beginning Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2015 through May 2016, for the construction of the Pahoa Roundabout. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to direct traffic at the Kahakai Boulevard/Pahoa Village Road intersection. Motorists are advised to drive through the detour with caution.
