Police DUI stats for the week of February 1-7, 2016

During the week of February 1, 2016, through February 7, 2016, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 21 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.

So far this year, there have been 112 DUI arrests compared with 100 during the same period last year, an increase of 12 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 130 major accidents so far this year compared with 136 during the same period last year, a decrease of 4.4 percent.

So far this year, there has been one fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with one during the same period last year.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
