Fatal crash in Volcano Thursday night (Nov 26)

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 9:38 p.m. alarm Thursday (Nov 26) to the 30 mile marker near Piimauna Drive on the Mamalahoa Highway for a fatal crash.

Crews arrived to find a car down, off the road, against trees with major damage having been almost split in half. Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Rangers were at the scene. The driver may have been pinned under the car when found and was dead. There were no other people in the crash.

Park Rangers are conducting an investigation of the crash.
