Police arrest Puna man in connection with an assault investigation

Hawaiʻi Island police are searching for a Puna man who is wanted for questioning in connection with an assault on Halloween.

At 11:30 p.m. Saturday (October 31), South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a report of an unconscious man in a parking lot on the 100 block of Hema Street. Witnesses reported that the victim had been involved in an affray with another man and that the other man had left the area.

The victim, a 49-year-old Hilo man, was taken to Hilo Medical Center with a head injury and later transferred to The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu, where he remains in critical condition.

Police want to question 31-year-old Kallen Imade, whose last known address was in Mountain View. He is described as 5-foot-6, 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311 or contact Detective Grant Todd at 961-2385 or grant.todd@hawaiicounty.gov.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Hawaiʻi Island police have located a 31-year-old Puna man wanted for questioning in connection with an assault on the night of Halloween.

Kallen Imade of Mountain View turned himself in to police at the South Hilo station. He was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault and is being held at the police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
