Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s help in identifying two men involved in a burglary in Hilo on Tuesday (October 27). Shortly after 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, South Hilo Patrol officers responded to a report of a burglary on the 1000 block of Ainaola Drive.

The National Weather Service High Surf Warning for the North and West facing Shores of Hawaii Island remains in effect. Surf heights of 20 to 30 feet along the north facing shores and heights of 15 to 20 feet along the west facing shores can be expected.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf warning for the north and east facing shores of Hawaii Island until 6 p.m. Wednesday (Oct 28). Surf is forecast to be in the 20-30 foot range along north facing shores of Hawaii Island. The surf will peak Tuesday evening (Oct 27).

During the week of October 19, 2015, through October 25, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 26 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Five of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.

HawaiÊ»i Island police have charged a 49-year-old PÄhoa man with two offenses stemming from an incident Friday (October 23) in Puna. Keith Kaapana Cummings was taken into custody Friday afternoon following a brief standoff in which he barricaded himself in a house in the lower portion of Hawaiian Beaches.

Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have risen 1.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.88/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 355 gas outlets in Hawaii. This compares with the national average that has fallen 5.2 cents per gallon in the last week to $2.20/g, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com.
