KITV resumes over the air broadcasts in Hilo

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

Due to a problem with their transmitter in Hilo for Over The Air (OTA) television broadcasts KITV was off the air for a few days last week. Their channels 4-1 and 4-2 were out of service for three days. Cable TV and Satellite TV subscribers were not affected by this OTA outage.

According to staff at KITV a technician that lives on Hawaii Island that normally does their repair work passed away which led to the delay in repairs as they sent their own technician over from Oahu.

If you still cannot receive OTA digital TV channels 4-1 (KITV) and/or 4-2 (MeTV) you may need to do an auto-scan with your television’s tuner to reacquire the channels. Just punching in the channel numbers directly may not work.
