At 11 p.m. HST Tuesday (Aug 25) the center of Tropical Storm Ignacio was located about 1,485 miles (2,385 km) east-southeast of Hilo, Hawaii. Maximum sustained winds are about 50 mph (85 km/hr) with higher gusts moving west at 7 mph (11 km/hr). Tropical force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the center.
Ignacio is strengthening, is expected to increase its forward speed and become a hurricane by Thursday (Aug 27).
The Central Pacific Hurricane Center will track Ignacio once it enters the Central Pacific at 140ºW as shown on the maps.
