Police locate a West Hawaii man wanted on warrants

Hawaiʻi Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a West Hawaiʻi man wanted for outstanding warrants. Police are looking for 33-year-old Shaye K.M. Nishida, whose last known address was in Kamuela on the Big Island.

The photo above is ten years old, but is the most recent that police have on file for Nishida. Police have reason to believe that Nishida may be armed and advise members of the public against approaching him.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the island-wide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.

Hawaiʻi Island police have located and arrested a West Hawaiʻi man who was wanted on outstanding warrants.

Friday afternoon (October 30), officers took 33-year-old Shaye K.M. Nishida into custody without incident at a home in Kamuela and charged with two counts of contempt of court.

Police thank the community for the many tips received in response to the Police Department’s request for information about Nishida’s whereabouts.
