Police locate woman reported missing, last seen in Hawaiian Acres

At approximately 5 p.m., Britney Pieta was located in a brush area in Hawaiian Acres, she was transported to Hilo Medical Center for medical treatment.

Hawaiʻi Island police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating a 26-year-old woman visiting from Chicago.

Britney Pieta went hiking from a residence in Hawaiian Acres on August 15, 2015, and failed to return.

She is described as being 5’6”, 110 pounds, with long brown hair, green eyes and she wears glasses. She was last seen wearing black pants, a purple shirt, blue jacket and black boots. She also suffers from a medical condition that requires medication.

Police ask anyone with information on her whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID. Police are searching for Britney Pieta a 26-year-old woman reported missing. Pieta is 110 pounds, has brown hair, glasses, last seen wearing a blue jacket, purple shirt, black pants and black boots in Hawaiian Acres.

Pieta is in need of medication.
