Kawaihae, HI – Pu‘ukoholÄ Heiau National Historic Site re-opened to the public this morning, including its visitor center, trails, and parking area. It had been closed since Sunday due to a fast-moving brushfire in Kawaihae that burned more than 4,650 acres.
The 80-acre site is open daily from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
The 43rd annual Ho‘oku‘ikahi Establishment Day Hawaiian Cultural Festival, scheduled for this weekend, has been canceled due to heavy rain and wind forecast with the arrival of Tropical Storm Hilda.
