MEDIA RELEASE
Hawaiʻi Island police are investigating the discovery of a body off the Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road).
At 11:10 a.m. Tuesday (June 16), officers responded to a report of an unattended truck off the 15-mile marker of Daniel K. Inouye Highway (Saddle Road).
They found a body in an advanced stage of decomposition.
An autopsy is scheduled for Friday to determine the sex and cause of death. Dental records will be used to establish identity.
The case is classified as a coroner’s inquest.
I drove that road yesterday morning between the hours of 730 and nine and saw no truck. if the body was decomposed (unable to drive), that means somebody brought (drove) it there within those 27 or so hours.
The police report said it was ‘off’ the main roadway so you may not have seen it while driving past.
