Breakouts are active in three general areas near PuÊ»u ʻŌʻÅ: at the northern base of PuÊ»u ʻŌʻÅ, north KahaualeÊ»a, and about 6 km (4 mi) northeast of PuÊ»u ʻŌʻÅ. The distal breakout and the breakout north of KahaualeÊ»a are both burning forest. There is no eruptive activity downslope from the distal breakout (nothing active near PÄhoa).
