Police DUI stats for the week of February 2-8, 2015

During the week of February 2, 2015, through February 8, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 20 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. Two were under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 106 DUI arrests compared with 143 during the same period last year, a decrease of 25.9 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 122 major accidents so far this year compared with 168 during the same period last year, a decrease of 27.4 percent.

So far this year, there has been one traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with three during the same period last year, a decrease of 66.7 percent.

To date, one fatality was related to drugs (1), alcohol (0), or a combination of both (0).

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
