Police DUI stats for the week of January 19-25, 2015

During the week of January 19, 2015, through January 25, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 23 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Six of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. One was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 75 DUI arrests compared with 98 during the same period last year, a decrease of 23.5 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 59 major accidents so far this year compared with 103 during the same period last year, a decrease of 43 percent.

So far this year, there has been one traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with three during the same period last year, a decrease of 66.6 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
