Police DUI stats for the week of January 12-18, 2015

During the week of January 12, 2015, through January 18, 2015, Hawaiʻi Island police arrested 23 motorists for driving under the influence of an intoxicant. Four of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes. One was under the age of 21.

So far this year, there have been 52 DUI arrests compared with 75 during the same period last year, a decrease of 30.7 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 35 major accidents so far this year compared with 75 during the same period last year, a decrease of 53 percent.

So far this year, there has been one traffic fatality on Hawaiʻi Island compared with three during the same period last year, a decrease of 66.6 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
