King’s Shops to host Culinary Arts Under the Stars (Jan. 31)


Kings’ Shops and the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Kona Kohala Chefs Association are once again partnering to host the premier culinary gala event and silent auction, Culinary Arts Under the Stars from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 31.

All proceeds from the event and auction will benefit the Equip the Kitchens program for the new culinary building at Hawaii Community College-Palamanui.

Tickets are $45 in advance and $55 at the door. Tickets are on sale at Maui Divers Jewelry at Kings’ Shops in the Waikoloa Beach Resort, on line at, and two locations in Kona; Kailua Candy Company and Westside Wines.

Scrip for beer and wine are available for $5 each. Beer provided by Kona Brewing Company and wine from Westside Wines.

Enjoy the music of Lau Lima while you stroll through the mouthwatering tasting stations presented by the top chefs of the Kohala Coast.

Culinary participants include: Roy’s Waikoloa Bar & Grill, The Three Fat Pigs Restaurant, Solimene’s Italian Restaurant, Sansei Seafood, Steak and Sushi Bar; Lava Lava Beach Club, Hawaii Calls of Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa, Kamuela Provision Company of Hilton Waikoloa Village, Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, Mamane Bakery, Coca Cola, Hawaii Kombuch, Alii Coffee as well as dessert and savory stations by Hawaii Community College – West Hawaii student chefs.

“Our goal is to help equip the teaching kitchens with state-of-the- art equipment for our future chefs and cooks. All funds raised through the event and silent auction will stay in West Hawaii and directly benefit the culinary arts program,” said event founder, Jean Hull, CCE.

This is the third anniversary of this culinary extravaganza. Kings’ Shops retailers and Kohala Coast restaurants have donated items for the silent auction which runs 5:30-7 p.m. Winning bids will be announced immediately after the close of the auction.
