Hilo woman wanted on warrants is arrested in Kailua-Kona

Hawaiʻi Island police have located 29-year-old Danielle Kaneao of Hilo, who was wanted on warrants and for a reported attempted car theft November 30 in Hilo.

She was arrested Monday morning (December 22) in Kailua-Kona and initially charged with violating probation and two counts of contempt of court. She was taken to the Kona police cellblock while detectives investigated additional charges.

At 3:20 p.m. Tuesday (December 23), after conferring with prosecutors, Area II Criminal Investigations Section detectives charged Kaneao with unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, theft and attempted theft in connection with the November 30 incident. In addition, she was charged with forgery and theft in connection with a forged check that was cashed in Pāhoa on July 1. Her bail was set at $42,100.

Police also arrested Kaneao on suspicion of meth trafficking and drug paraphernalia after finding a crystalline substance and drug paraphernalia in the car she was in at the time of her arrest. She was not charged with those offenses, which are still under investigation.

She remains at the Kona cellblock pending her initial court appearance scheduled for Wednesday (December 24).
