Keaau Library celebrates 40th anniversary (Nov. 25)

Keaau Public and School Library, located at 16-571 Keaau-Pahoa Road on the Keaau Middle School campus, celebrates its 40th anniversary with a special performance featuring the Puna Taiko Group at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25 in the Humanities Room.

The public is invited to attend this free event which will also include line dancing activities for participants. The Library will be open during its normal Tuesday public services hours 1-8 p.m.

The Friends of the Library of Hawaii is sponsoring this special two-hour anniversary event which is suitable for all ages. Young children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Light refreshments will be served.

Designed by Matsunaga, Sako, and Associates/Architects, Inc., Keaau Public and School Library was opened on Sept. 30, 1974.

The library serves the Keaau and upper Puna communities, as well as an increasing population of people displaced by the effects of the June 27th lava flow.
