Registration open for HI-PAL Winter Basketball Classic Tournament

MEDIA RELEASE

The Hawaiʻi Isle Police Activities League (HI-PAL) will hold its 34th annual “Winter Basketball Classic” Tournament, in collaboration with the Department of Parks & Recreation, from Friday, December 26, to Monday, December 29, in Hilo.

Entries are being accepted for the following age groups to be played at the following locations:

  • 5-6 and 7-8 divisions—Edith KanakaÊ»ole Multi-Purpose Stadium
  • Boys 9-10 and Girls 10 under—Edith KanakaÊ»ole Multi-Purpose Stadium
  • Boys 11-12 and Girls 12 under—Hilo Armory
  • Boys 13-14 and Girls 14 under — Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium
  • The age cutoff date is December 31, 2014.

All championship games will be played at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium on Monday, December 29.

Registration for age group 8 and under is $60 per team. Registration for 9 and above is $80 per team. To help attract outer-island teams, a reduced rate of $25 per team is being offered to visiting squads.

Deadline for team entry is Friday, November 28. Each team is required to complete and submit a registration packet before the deadline. Registration forms can be picked up at all police stations. They also may be found on the County of Hawaiʻi’s Department of Parks and Recreation website.
