The leading surface lava flow has resumed some activity and has advanced 25 yards since yesterday. The upslope breakout flow has remained active and advanced about 30 yards since yesterday.

The Aloha Exchange Club of East Hawaiʻi recognized Puna Patrol Officer Roberto Segobia on Thursday (September 25) as East Hawaiʻi “Officer of the Month” for September. Segobia, who joined the Police Department last year, was honored for what Captain Samuel Jelsma described as “the dedication and effort he has displayed preventing and solving crime.”

Police warn about Craigslist rental scam

Hawaiʻi Island police are warning the public about a Craigslist scam that lists houses for rent. A person posing as the landlord claimed to be out of the country living in Nigeria and asked potential renters to send a money order to Nigeria before receiving the keys.
