Police get tip, locate Hilo man for violating probation

Thanks to a tip to Crime Stoppers, Hawaiʻi Island Police have located 41-year-old Steven Schwartz of Hilo, who was wanted for contempt of court and violating probation.

He was arrested in Kamuela on Friday (August 29) and charged with those offenses. He was released after posting $2,150 bail.

Police thank the public for their assistance.

Hawaiʻi Island Police are searching for a 41-year-old Hilo man wanted for violating probation and contempt of court.

Steven Schwartz is described as 5-foot-8, 180 pounds with brown eyes and salt-and-pepper hair.

Police ask anyone with information on his whereabouts to call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call the islandwide Crime Stoppers number at 961-8300 and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
